Vitamins for the skin - ensures beautiful skin

Updated: Aug 19, 2024

Beautiful skin

Vitamin C

It doesn't matter whether it's lemon, raspberry or pepper - they all have one thing in common: they are rich in vitamin C, which performs important tasks in our bodies as an antioxidant. For example, it catches free radicals, which, among other things, weaken our immune system, cause cell damage, and thus promote the development of diseases such as cancer. Antioxidants also play an important role for our skin: they cause oxidative stress, which is bad for our skin and can cause blemishes and premature skin aging. By covering our vitamin C needs through diet, we can prevent this. In addition: Vitamin C stimulates the production of protein in the skin and ensures that it breaks down more slowly. This has a positive effect on the surface structure and ensures that our skin becomes more elastic.

Vitamin A

Equally important for our skin is vitamin A, also known as retinol. Vitamin A in our skin contributes to the formation of keratin and collagen, which in turn enhances the elasticity of our skin. Keratin is an important component of our skin and hair, and collagen is the main component of connective tissue responsible for holding our skin together. It is no coincidence that retinol is considered a true anti-aging miracle weapon and therefore can be found as an ingredient in many serums and creams. But that's not all: using retinol can also reduce pigment spots, smooth fine lines and refine large pores.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E also contributes to beautiful skin, and is fat-soluble and can therefore easily penetrate the cornea and be stored there. Among other things, the vitamin can repair damaged skin and provide relief to dry skin, as it improves the moisture level in the stratum corneum. Moreover, it provides more elasticity, increases skin resistance to harmful environmental influences, smoothes wrinkles, has an anti-inflammatory effect and fights age spots. Vitamin E is therefore a real all-round talent, which is also why it is found in many beauty products.

In case of vitamin E deficiency, the balance of lipids and moisture in the skin occurs, leading to dryness. Poor wound healing can also be a result of a deficiency.

Zinc

Zinc is an essential mineral for our body. Because: As a component of various proteins, it is involved in our immune system, cell growth, wound healing, among other things. It ensures beautiful skin because it reduces sebum secretion and promotes healthy skin regeneration. In addition, zinc is involved in the formation of collagen, which is important for firm and elastic skin.
