Rapeseed oil

Rapeseed oil is one of the most popular edible oils and if used correctly, the oil can have a positive effect on our health. We explain 3 things that happen when you consume rapeseed oil every day.

The building blocks of a balanced, nutrient-rich diet include healthy fats found in some of our edible oils. Due to its positive effect on our health, daily consumption is recommended. However, not all vegetable oils are the same, as there are significant differences between different types in terms of quality and production.

Is rapeseed oil healthy?

Due to its nutty taste, rapeseed oil is not only a resource in the kitchen – it is also one of the healthiest food oils and therefore should be on your menu regularly. However, this only applies to original cold-pressed rapeseed oil, which provides you with vitamins and secondary plant materials. The only drawback: Since the smoke point is between 120 and 140 degrees, it does not need to be heated, and therefore not used for roasting or baking. Refined rapeseed oil, on the other hand, is less sensitive to heat, but it loses some of its valuable components as a result of the hot pressing process. The following health-promoting properties suggest healthy cold-pressed rapeseed oil, which you can use great in salads or other cold dishes.

3 things that happen when you consume rapeseed oil on a daily basis

1. The risk of developing various diseases decreases

Unsaturated fatty acids have a positive effect on our health, so we should consume them regularly. The ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids is particularly important here. In a 2:1 ratio, this is ideal for cold pressed rapeseed oil. While some omega-6 fatty acids can constrict blood vessels and promote inflammation, omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory effects and lower the level of bad cholesterol in the body. This can reduce the risk of various diseases such as cardiovascular disease.

2. Your body is provided with important nutrients

Rapeseed oil is a valuable source of nutrients that not only provides you with omega-3 fatty acids, but is also rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, K, and E. These play an important role in the healing of wounds, teeth, bones, and mucous membranes, and as antioxidants, protect Cells from free radicals that can promote diseases in the body. Apart from that, rapeseed oil is rich in carotenoids, which are secondary plant substances. The body produces vitamin A from beta-carotene, which is important for our eyesight, among other things.

3. Too much rapeseed oil can make you fat

However, despite the health benefits of rapeseed oil, it should be consumed in moderation. One and a half tablespoons of cooking oil daily is enough to benefit from its positive properties. Overeating is not healthy, because besides the fats in oil we also consume a lot of calories. So if you consume very large amounts of rapeseed oil every day, you risk gaining weight. Combined with an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise, there is a rapid risk of obesity, which is a risk factor for diseases such as diabetes or heart attacks.
