What exactly is apple cider vinegar?


Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting apples mixed with sugar and water. Yeasts and bacteria ensure that the apple mixture ferments, creating the typical aroma and taste.


1. Valuable nutrients


After fermentation, only a small amount of nutrients remains in the vinegar, but they are valuable acids that are important for the body. Apple cider vinegar contains minerals, trace elements, vitamins and other substances such as:


Potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus, chlorine and sulfur

Iron, fluorine, manganese, zinc, copper, silicon and boron

Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B9 (folic acid), C, E, A

Dietary fiber, amino acids, flavonoids and enzymes

Tannic acid Tannin and organic acids such as citric and acetic acid


2. Apple cider vinegar has an antibacterial effect


Vinegar prevents bacteria from multiplying, which is why, for example, it promotes wound healing or helps prevent unpleasant odors. Apple cider vinegar soothes irritated skin caused by sunburn or insect bites. Apple cider vinegar is even used against ear infections, warts and nail fungus. Dab the areas with apple cider vinegar for relief. Bad odors can be removed from clothes with apple cider vinegar. Either scrub the areas with vinegar beforehand or regularly add apple cider vinegar to the fabric softener compartment.








3. Apple cider vinegar for beautiful feet


A 1:4 apple cider vinegar foot bath helps prevent sweaty feet and athlete's foot. In it, you should bathe the feet for 15 minutes 1-2 times a week.

Apple cider vinegar also helps get rid of calluses. After the foot bath, scrub the callus with a pumice stone or arrow. Rinse your feet and scrub them with coconut oil.

Apple cider vinegar exfoliation can help, as it gently softens keratinized skin and has an anti-inflammatory effect. It is also an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional drugstore peels, as it does not contain any microplastics.


Apple cider vinegar peeling: This is how it works:


Place a warm, wet towel on your face for two to three minutes to open the pores.

Now mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 500 ml of warm water, dip a towel and apply it on your face.

Buy apple cider vinegar - that's what to look for


When purchasing apple cider vinegar, make sure you are purchasing a high-quality product. Good apple cider vinegar is not pasteurized, so it has not been heated and is naturally cloudy. Organic apple cider vinegar is also made from whole fruits. Good quality is more often offered in health food stores and pharmacies than in supermarkets. The vinegar served there is often made from apple scraps and artificial additives added. This also usually contains fewer nutrients.





Side effects of apple cider vinegar


Even with apple cider vinegar, the amount consumed is important. In some cases, apple cider vinegar can cause side effects:


Do not drink apple cider vinegar directly, otherwise it may irritate the throat and esophagus.


After a meal with apple cider vinegar, rinse your mouth well, because the acetic acid will attack the tooth enamel. Also, brush your teeth only after half an hour to prevent tooth enamel erosion.


If you have a sensitive stomach, you should first discuss with your doctor whether apple cider vinegar is suitable for your daily diet.

Apple cider vinegar can irritate and dry out sensitive skin.
